Thursday’s Three

Hi Y’all,

It’s time again to talk about some old dogs who are in need of forever homes.

One day the Humans will be old. One day I’ll be old. We all get old.

My Humans had decided they didn’t want a puppy anymore when they got my now over the rainbow older sister (see “In Memory”)  The Humans worry about what happens if something should happen to them and I am left alone.  They’ve made arrangements for someone to care for me, but it still worries them.

The Humans say that as they get older, they think they will get older and older dogs so they won’t have to worry so much about what will happen to us if we outlive them.

So if you are an older Human and a dog lover and are without a dog now ‘cause you don’t want to face a puppy’s energy or deal with potty training and chewing, check out these older dogs.

Still like running? or just long walks?  Check out this sweet but blind Chessie.  Don’t worry about her blindness because our noses are our number one sense and our ears are number two.  Paloma is a four year old, blind Chesapeake Bay Retriever located in Denver, Colorado.  Her blindness does not slow her down.  People are surprised she is blind.  She likes swimming, walks, car rides and will run with you. She is reliable alone in the house.  Likes other dog companions and gets along with cats.  She can also use a dog door.  Check out Paloma’s link.

Next, remember the flying dog, Dexter?  Forget what you ever thought about old dogs.  This dog has achieved his Junior Dock Jumping Title at 12 years of age!    Check him out at CBR Rescue.

Finally, there is Sam, still waiting and hoping for a forever home to spend his last days.  His owners just didn’t want to be bothered with an old dog any longer.  He loves people and a good stroll.  He’s perfect if you’re no longer as active as you once were but miss the love of a good dog.  He likes other dogs.  He loves his food.  Please check out Sams link.

Sam: Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Dog; Monticello, GA

Thanks for checkin’ in y’all.

I’ll bring y’all up to date on my doin’s tomorrow.

Y’all come back now!

  1. Old dogs are the best dogs. They don't make spots on the carpet, they don't chew up shoes. They know how to live in harmony with humans and how to be great lovers.

Tom T. Hall had a song that said it all, "there ain't but three things in life worth a solitary dime, Old dogs and children...."

Keep up the good work, someone will read what you write and come looking for them.

  2. Older - experienced, wise, full of love and appreciation. They're the best!
